The Zen of Traffic: Checking our Alignment
On the road, we dart between lanes to gain a few seconds—then meet the same cars at the next red light.
Our urgency is rarely ours alone. Tailgating pressures the driver ahead. A rushed lane change forces someone else to brake. One person’s need to get ahead can disrupt the whole flow.
Life works the same way. We chase titles, packed calendars, and visible momentum. We measure progress by speed and position, even when neither tells us whether we are headed somewhere that matters.
So pause and check your alignment: Is your pace serving your purpose? Is your ambition creating momentum—or pressure? Are you moving toward your intent, or merely away from discomfort?
The person who moves steadily, pays attention, and leaves room for others may not look the fastest. But they may be farther along—because their direction matches their values.
Getting ahead is not the goal. Moving in alignment is.
